Saint Charles is the second westernmost incorporated community in the commonwealth of Virginia, only beat out by Jonesville.
The Saint Charles post office was established in 1908 and named for a local coal and land Baron, Charles Bondurant.
Today the town is home to 116 residents.
I thought that I had explored every nook and cranny in Lee County. That is until several weeks ago when I ran across this beauty completely by accident.
A friend of mine who lives in the general area where the school is located has told me that her father attended school there. I havent been able to pinpoint an exact opening or closing date as of yet. If you have any information about this school please comment below. Enjoy.
Blackwater Union (Missionary) Baptist Church is located on Blackwater Road about 5 miles from the intersection wtih state route 70.
The current structure was erected in 1956.
