So Long My Friend. Saying Goodbye to Oak Hollow Mall

Oak Hollow Mall -- High Point, NC If there are two things in this life I am the first would be a nerd and the second would be sentimental. When I lived in Greensboro, this mall was a pretty happening place. It wasnt as busy and overwhelmingly big as Four Seasons in Greensboro or Haynes Mall in Winston. It was just right. Plus, it had a Steve and Barry’s. Oak Hollow Mall -- High Point, NC
On Januiary 6, 2017, High Point University, the owner of the mall announced that the mall would finally close its doors on March 10th. The press release blamed Sears decision to close their call center located at the mall and the Universities inability to rebuild the malls tennant base.

I won’t go into a huge history of the mall, I did that in a post on this very blog last year when I visited the mall at that time. That post can be found by clicking HERE.
The main focus of this entry is a pure photo documentation of Oak Hollow Mall in its final days.

Sears — Fort Henry Mall — Kingsport, Tennessee

Before starting this article, I realize that this mall “officially” changed it’s name to Kingsport Town Center almost 10 years ago.  However, seeing as how the mall has failed to follow through with even changing the name on the building, I refuse to call this mall by such a generic name.
Sears -- Kingsport Town Center, Kingsport TN
The mall was officially opened in November, 1976.  Sears opened with the mall and has been there ever since.  More information about the mall and it’s history can be found by clicking the link to an article on Sky City by clicking HERE.  On January 4, 2017 it was announced that the Sears at Fort Henry Mall along with about 150 more Sears and Kmart stores would close in March. Parks-Belk — Jefferson City, Tennessee

A lot of times when I go exploring in unfamiliar towns I pre-explore on google maps.  Last night I was “driving around” in downtown Jefferson City, Tennessee and spotted this:
Old Parks-Belk -- Jefferson City, Tennessee The most recent street view was dated 2014 so I was excited and curious to find out if the remnants of the old Parks-Belk sign were still exposed. Luckily, as you can see, they were! Old Parks-Belk -- Jefferson City, Tennessee
I cant locate any information about Parks-Belk in Jefferson City. So if anyone has any idea of a closing date, pass that along, that would be awesome. This building has been recently sold and there are some revitalization efforts going on in the town. This sign’s days are probably numbered.
